I’ve been having problems for what feels like the longest time getting quality audio on my recorded Instagram videos. I could be in the quietest room, yet whenever I record a video, it sounds like there is an industrial fan blowing directly into my speaker.

It turns out I wasn’t alone!

After seeing others mention having the same issue, I turned to trusty Dr. Google for answers. It took some trial and error, but I finally found a solution that works.

All you need is a thumb tack, paper clip, or other object with a sharp/fine tip.

the speaker area I’m referencing is the long oval shape.

  1. Find a well-lit area
  2. Take your sharp/fine tipped object
  3. poke 3 or 4 holes (lightly! not a lot of pressure is needed) into the speaker directly. Make sure not to push in too deep. (that’s what she said.)

That’s it! Now try and record audio or video on Instagram. It’s crystal clear.

**FULL DISCLAIMER** This has only been tested on an iPhone. DO NOT take this advice and then proceed to hate message me, telling me it didn’t work for you. I am in no way responsible for the choices you make. You can take what I’m advising with a grain of salt for all I care. I am in no way endorsing what is essentially “damaging” your phone – I myself am comfortable doing this, but am well aware others may not be. Use the steps above at your own risk.

If it worked for you, I would love to know! Comment below.
